On monday the nigeria Oscar Selection commitee announced that the movie LION HEART, which was directed by Genevieve Nnaji was tendered as Nigeria's entry to the 92nd Academy Awards in the International Features Film category of the 2020 Oscars.
Although, it was brought to notice, the film was yet to be nominated for the award by the Awards body. In the International Features film category it was determined by a feature-length motion picture of more than 40 minutes produced outside the United States with a predominantly non-English dialogue track, moreover, Counts grew upto 93 countries which have submitted forward for consideration. Meanwhile, the following countries are the first-time entrants; Ghana, Nigeria and Uzbekistan.
The Academy's Board of Governors Earlier this year voted the Foreign language Film category to be Renamed to International Feature Film and expanded the shortlist from 9 to 10 films.
According to the release, on Monday, December 16, 2019 the 10 films eventually shortlisted will be announced. On Monday, January 13, 2020 the nominations will be annouced.
The award is billed to hold on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the Dolby Theatre, Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live on the ABC Television Network and in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
