Hotel workers conspired to kill the owner of hotel and manager

According to a report by Punch Metro, the owner of Etashol Hotel and Suites, located on Budland Street in the Ojodu Berger area of Lagos State, Mrs Abimbola Olusola, and the manager, Tunji Omikunle, have been murdered.
It was gathered that the deceased were drugged, tied up and strangled by a gang that included some workers at the hotel.
Olusola, who had lived in London, the United Kingdom, for 35 years, was said to have returned to Nigeria recently and opened the hotel for business in March 2018.
It was learnt that the 56-year-old had issues with some of the workers, who allegedly defrauded the hotel of millions of naira.
Two of the workers were reportedly sacked after the police were invited to look into the matter.
Last week Thursday, a gang said to have consisted some of the sacked workers and some still in the employment of the hotel, allegedly conspired among themselves and drugged Olusola and Tunji.
They allegedly deactivated the Closed Circuit Television cameras on the premises, dragged the manager into a toilet, where his hands and feet were tied.
Our correspondent learnt that Tunji was strangled, after which the suspects proceeded to Olusola’s room and strangled her too.
Relatives of the deceased told Punch Metr that the suspects fled the hotel, as family members met the lifeless bodies of the victims in the hotel.
The case was reported at the Ojodu Abiodun Police Station.
A family member of the late businesswoman, who asked not to be named, said Olusola was planning to lease out the hotel and return to London when tragedy struck.
She said, “The incident happened on Thursday night cum Friday morning. I was called that my sister had been murdered by the boys working for her in the hotel.
“From what I learnt, the manager had dragged one of them, called Light, to a police station for involvement in fraud in the hotel. There were also cases of stealing involving these guys. Two of them were sacked.
“On Thursday night, the men tied Tunji’s hands and feet and strangled him. I think it was after they had killed Tunji that they got access to the card that opens my sister’s room. They went to her bed, tied her up and strangled her.”
Punch Metro reports that the woman’s 12-year-old son, who was to go to school on Friday morning, was the first to discover the mother’s corpse.
Around 7am when the school bus came to pick him, a vigilante member, who had tried unsuccessfully to reach the deceased businesswoman on the telephone, insisted on knowing her whereabouts from the son.
The boy was said to have found her dead on the bed in her room.
The family member added, “The child sleeps in a room in the hotel. Tunji used to wake him up and prepare him for school. But when the boy did not see the manager that morning and his school bus had arrived, he quickly got himself ready and ran out.
“However, a vigilante member, who had suspected that something was amiss after noticing some of the workers’ movements the previous night, waited at the hotel’s gate. The man had called both Tunji and the woman on their phones without getting any response.
“When the boy was hurrying to school that morning, the man said he should go and call the manager. The boy went inside and returned, saying he could not find the manager. He was hurrying to get into the school bus when the man said he should go and call his mother.
“He went to her room and raised the alarm after discovering her corpse.”
It was learnt that Olusola, who hailed from Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, had separated from her husband.
Tunji’s uncle, Chief Tunde Omikunle, said the deceased was survived by his wife and twin children.
Tunde said, “He grew up with me before learning fashion designing. And when he was done, the family got a shop for him; he even had apprentices until last year when he said he had been employed as a manager in the hotel.
“His wife, a graduate, had just been delivered of a set of twins. She stays in Ibadan. In fact, he wanted to go to meet his family in Ibadan when his boss asked him to wait. It was that night that he and the boss were killed.
“From what we know, two of the sacked workers conspired with those still there to carry out the act. They drugged him and took him to a toilet, where he was strangled. Although they destroyed the CCTV in the hotel in order to cover their tracks, we still got to know that they were responsible for the killings.”
Punch Metro reports that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba, where one of the workers was being interrogated.
A source said the police had recovered the ropes used to commit the crime.
“There was no stab wound or anything on the corpses. The victims were strangled. We recovered the ropes used to commit the crime,” the source said.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation was ongoing.

All these years Mrs macken all always long thirsted to see any of her relatives because she felt so lonely and also she could know if there maybe any family traits or medical history to know the root problem affecting her two daughters.

Speaking about how the years of searching had affected her, Mrs Macken continued:
“The sadness that goes with being alone, even to this day, different things would set me off, I’d say, ‘if only I had a brother, if only I had a sister’, I think it’s just within you that you have no blood relatives. But I have now.”

Two men explained why they fought each other because of buhari

A man was being interviewed about the recent Onnoghen sack saga on the road by Roots.
The man said:
“The removal of CJN, whether he is there or not there, Nigeria will still remain Nigeria.
What Buhari has done for this country, no human being will ever do it. Buhari is a true light of this country.
How I wish we can get another 5 Buharis. One in the North, one in the South, one in the West, everywhere let’s have more Buharis.
Somebody will be on the newspaper and be abusing someone’s parents.
Where were you when Buhari was fighting to unite this country? Idiot.
At this juncture, the other man intervened. What happened next is quite between the two is quite hilarious…”
Later the man continued …
“If you cannot Impregnate your wife it’s Buhari, if you go to toilet to and you can’t poo, it’s Buhari, if you can’t…..”

The struggling farmer plans his funerals while been alive.

When Mallappa, a farmer in India's southern state of Andhra Pradesh, left his home in August last year, he told his family he was going to "buy groceries". They never dreamed he had decided to take his own life and was actually buying all the things they would need for his funeral.
Among the things Mallappa bought that day last August were a white cloth to cover his body, bangles for his wife, incense, a garland and a laminated photograph of himself to be displayed in his house after his death.

Upon returning to his village, he placed them all on top of his father's grave, located on his farm.
Along with the items was a note explaining that he had decided to end his life because he could not afford to repay his loans - some 285,000 rupees (local currency) ($4,000; £3,100) that he had borrowed from banks and money lenders.
The note said that he had bought everything since he didn't want to further burden his family with the cost of a funeral.
He then went to a small hut near his field, which he would use to rest during the day while tending to his crops. It was there that he took his own life.
Early the next morning, his son, Madhavayya, who was taking the cattle out to graze, saw the pile of new things on his grandfather's grave - his father's laminated photograph was among them.
"I sensed something wrong and I rushed towards the hut. To my shock, my father's body was lying there, weeping.
Mallappa's story is becoming a depressingly familiar one in India.
Indian agriculture has been blighted by falling crop prices, a depleting water table and drought in the last few years.
Farmers struggle with debt, and crop failures trigger farm suicides with alarming frequency. At least 300,000 farmers across the country have killed themselves since 1995.
Travelling to Mallappa's farm, his peanut crop - ruined due to drought - is easily visible from the roadside.
"We have six acres of land. We drilled four tube wells to irrigate our crops, but three of them never supplied us with any water. The drought meant that even the fourth tube well did not give us enough water. We had planted tomato and peanuts, so we took a decision to divert water to the tomato crops since we felt we had a better chance of getting a good price for them," Madhavayya said.
But the tomato harvest fetched a rock-bottom price. And Mallappa's hopes - of repaying his debts from his earnings - were dashed.
Good harvests across the country over the last year have led to a crop glut, leading prices to nosedive.
The low price for tomato in 2018 meant that farmers lost roughly 1,000 rupees for every acre of tomato they harvested. Many of them dumped their entire crop on the roads to protest the price they were being offered for it.
Mallappa's family says they never had the slightest indication that he was planning to end his life.
"When he left for the town that day, he told us he was going to pay off some of the interest on his loans, and would also come back with some provisions and fertiliser," Madhavayya said.
"It seems he had planned his suicide for about a week, but none of us had the slightest idea."
We met Mallappa's wife, Marekka, in the one-room house where she lives with Madhavayya. Her three daughters are married and live in nearby villages, while her younger son moved to the southern city of Bangalore in search of a job.
"He was continuously taking loans for his crops, but they always failed because of the never-ending drought. This year, he thought he could pay off his debts with the harvest, but then we couldn't even do that," Marekka said.
She recalled that on the day he went into the town to shop for his own funeral, Mallappa had received a visitor in the morning.
She said that at least one of the people who he owed money to had threatened him.
Officials say that the drought in the region has been unprecedented - news was gathered that it was the worst on record for the last 54 years.
"Mallappa's death is an example of the severity of drought here. Instead of standing as security, owning agricultural land has become a liability for farmers," said SM Bhasha, a human rights activist.
"The conditions in rural areas have deteriorated. The intensity of drought in many parts of the state is increasing. Villages are emptying - only the old are staying on. There isn't even enough drinking water."
Part of Mallappa's loan was waived by the state government as part of a scheme intended to give relief to indebted farmers.
After his death, the government said it would provide his family with 500,000 rupees as compensation. A local official, Gopali Sreenivasulu, told the BBC that they would also settle his bank loans, amounting to 150,000 rupees.
However, his family is yet to receive any money.
Madhavayya says that he is still pinning his hopes on the tomato crop - and the possibility that the next harvest could fetch a better price.
"We don't know what our fate is," he said. "I am just irrigating the tomato plants in the hope that this may fetch money. If there are no rains and the crop fails, we will have no choice but to sell our land and cattle and migrate to a town."
As we leave the village, we stop by the studio where Mallappa had his photograph laminated.
The man inside, Govindu, who also works as a freelance photographer, remembered him. "I took an advance and asked Mallappa to come two days later to collect the laminated photograph."
When Mallappa returned two days later, Govindu said, he hadn't laminated it yet. But Mallappa told him he needed it done immediately since he had no time.
"So I put everything else aside and did it on priority," Gonvindu said.
"When I came across the news of his suicide in the newspaper, I realised he was the same person. If I had known what he was planning to do, I would have at least tried to delay it."

DRUNK DEMOLITION WORKER ARRESTED AND WAS SENTENCED TO 425 YEARS IN PRISON

An explosive expert was arrested this morning in Greenville, North Carolina after he set more than 5 tons of TNT in the wrong building and blew it up.
The drunk

According to his colleagues, 51-year old Marty Daughtry was visibly intoxicated this morning when he showed up to work, but that was not unusual for the demolition team foreman.
Recognized as an expert in his domain, Mr. Daughtry has led several major demolition projects over the years.
He is known to have a severe alcohol problem but is usually able to get the job done, so his coworkers were still confident when they decided to let him manage the demolition of a 6-story apartment building.
Unfortunately, Mr. Daughtry was unable to remain concentrated on the job at hand and had his employees set the explosive in the wrong building, leading to the demolition of an entirely occupied 36-apartment building.

Fortunately, there was no one inside at the time, but the mistake has left dozens of families homeless and caused over $4.5 million in damage.
Greenville Police Department spokesman Lieutenant Gary Walters commented the incident in a press conference a few hours after the arrest.
“The accused was too drunk to pay attention and he didn’t even get the address right. It’s a miracle that all 36 apartments were vacant when the guys blew it up. That drunkard could really have killed several people!”
Lieutenant Walters says the accused was so drunk at the time of his arrest that he vomited several times in the patrol car on the way to the station, before falling asleep.
Marty Daughtry now faces a total of 98 criminal charges, including 79 charges of criminal neglect endangering the life of others, on for each of the destroyed building’s tenants.
If found guilty on all charges, he could face a fine of $3,450,000 and a sentence of up to 425 years in prison.
He is expected to appear in court in March for the beginning of his trial.

Trump's lawyer shifts on collusion, can't say if campaign tied to Russia

Rudy Giuliani, an attorney for President Donald Trump, speaks at the Iran Freedom Convention for Human Rights and democracy in Washington.
Donald Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani distanced the U.S. president from any collusion that might have occurred between Russia and other people in his 2016 campaign, saying he had no idea whether any aides colluded with Moscow during that time.
Trump and Giuliani have repeatedly and publicly said there was no collusion between Trump's presidential campaign and Russia. But in a television interview on Wednesday night, the former New York mayor, now representing Trump, retreated from those earlier broad statements.
"I never said there was no collusion between the campaign, or between people in the campaign. I have no idea," Giuliani told the cable news network.
"There is not a single bit of evidence the president of the United States committed the only crime you can commit here, conspired with the Russians to hack the DNC,” he said, referring to the Democratic National Committee, whose servers were hacked during the 2016 campaign and emails released publicly.
"The president did not collude with the Russians," Giuliani told CNN.
Giuliani in an interview with Reuters on Thursday reaffirmed his comments to CNN, and said he only represented Trump and would not know about anyone else's actions.
U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded Moscow interfered in the 2016 election campaign to bolster Trump and hurt his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton. Federal prosecutors investigating the alleged meddling have charged more than 30 people as part of their probe, including more than two dozen Russian individuals and entities.
Several members of Trump's campaign, including former campaign chairman Paul Manafort, have also either been charged or pleaded guilty as part of the probe being led by U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller or in related investigations.
Trump has frequently denied, in tweets and in public remarks, that any collusion with Russia occurred, calling the U.S. Special Counsel's Office investigation a "witch hunt." Russia has also denied any interference. Mueller's team is also investigating any possible obstruction of justice by Trump.
Representatives for the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment..

It is no news that in 2018, Tiwa Savage, Reekado Banks and Dr. Sid were the only Mavin Records music acts that made a mark on the Nigerian music scene; little wonder Don Jazzy was quick to admit something was amiss.

While responding to a fan who inquired to know if the label was experiencing challenges, Don Jazzy begged his fans to pray for the recovery of his artistes’ music career which may have been experiencing some challenges he refused to reveal.

The car was later found abandoned nearby but the 17-month-old girl was not inside.

During the hours Maria was missing hundreds of people had tweeted appeals to find her, using the hashtag #findmaria.
Within an hour of the appeal being made, local search parties had been organised, with some people wearing hi-vis jackets as they helped to look for Maria.
She was found on Ruskin Avenue, halfway between Nine Acres Close, where the car was stolen, and Hathaway Crescent, where it was abandoned.

"Delighted to report that missing child Maria Tudorica aged 17 months has now been found safe and well in the Ruskin Avenue, E12 area," the Met Police tweeted.
"Thanks to media and all members of the public who have helped with this appeal."

Describing what had happened when the car was stolen, Maria's uncle said his brother had placed the child on the front seat as he demonstrated the engine.
"My brother left his girl on the seat and started the engine to show him the car. He said let me check the engine a bit," he said.
